When looking at fares from Rome to Orvieto in August on Trenitalia, the MINI fare for both first and second class seats is 9 EUR right now for adults. For children, the base fare is 7.30 for 2nd class and 10 EUR for 1st class. Can I just book 4 adult MINI fares in 1st class rather than 2 adult and 2 children's tickets? Also, will there be any hidden fees in addition to those fares - ie. seat reservations, etc.? Thanks!

Don't know why you could not purchase four tickets. There are no hidden fees on the tickets. If a seat reservation is required, which it is on an IC train, then it is included in the price.

Found this older thread on a search and wanted to check in- did you book the adult mini fare for the kids? Was it a problem? I am thinking about doing the same thing.

I did book the adult MINI fare. Don't think it'll be a problem, but our trip's not for another month.
