Booked flight to Cancun on Volaris

My Folks and I are traveling to Cancun this May and I booked us on Volaris for $496 r/t from Oakland via Leon going and Gudalajara on the return. This is their Plus Package with included Checked and carry on luggage and Priority Boarding.

Because of our medical conditions they assigned me Row 1 A and my Parents opposite Aisles in Row 2 in Premium Plus with the middle seat guaranteed to be blocked. It includes a free snack and beverage.

Volaris flies Airbus 320s . This package is better than United which wanted $600.

We have a 11:30 PM fight arriving Cancun at 10 AM with 2.5 hours to clear Customs at Leon vs Cancun saving us time in Long lines. Returning at 10:30 arriving Oakland at 5:50 PM.

Our Fare includes being able to change our fight for just the fare difference or refund it.

It reminds me of Vuelling in Europe. LCC get bad reputation because people don't understand that the fares are unbundled. I always pick luggage included. We are saving $200-$300 off the other airlines with a better schedule and package.

Yes legroom is tight id you are not in Premium seating but as Rick says sometimes you have to put up with it.

I love red eyes because you avoid rush hour traffic and can arrive at 7:30 PM. I like the 6 PM arrival.

I fly on Southwest so I am use to LCC. I prefer to fly on Volaris over United.. Their system onboard food for purchase menu is less expensive than United or AA. I can get a Beer for $4 or Rum for $5. They' have a $10 package with a sandwich and drink. I also like the culture is Mexican with very helpful Staff and you can practice your Spanish.

Hola,
I have flown Volaris RT from PDX to Guadalajara (2023) and I will be flying with them next month to Oaxaca. I book flights and extras as you described and I admire the Volaris no-nonsense style. I received exactly what I expected, the flights departed and arrived on time and I appreciate their serving PDX which is not exactly an international flight hub. However, sometimes the "Volaris no-nonsense style" seems strained. We received notice, yesterday, that my wife's seat assignent (booked months ago) has been changed. She is now assigned a seat three rows back from her original seat, which means we will not be sitting, together. And, her new seat is not in the premium seating section. No word of compensation or reasoning for this change. Volaris customer service is challenging, to say the least.

Thanks for your reply about Volaris. A lot of people don't understand the add ons.

Not everyone needs or wants "add ons" and a basic flight with 1 personal item and 1 carry-on item may be a more common request. I checked just now with a one-way ticket departure from PDX to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on March 1st, 2026. That non-stop flight is $178.99 includig all taxes and airport fees but does not include seat selection or in-flight services. Volaris has horrible reviews from presumed previous customers but my experience is that Volaris provides a very inexpensive and certainly adequet opportunity to fly to Mexico from the U.S.
As stated in my previous reply, I will be flying Volaris in late October and I look forward to that trip.

I flew Volaris for the first time this year and I found them to be perfectly serviceable. They're not Emirates by any stretch of the imagination, but the plane made it from LAX to OAX in one piece and I even got a cup of water gratis!
