bologna train station transfer time

I am taking the train from innsbruck to florence with a transfer in bologna(12 Minutes) Does someone know the platform lay out and should this be enough time to get from one train to the other. MY wife has a bad knee and cannot walk very fast. The first train in a standard and the second a eurostar, are their platforms in the same area. Is there a way to find out track assignments prior to departure date

As I recall, there are multiple tracks and platforms at the Bologna train station. You access the different platforms via an underground tunnel. I can't remember if there are ramps down to the tunnel or stairs. If stairs, count on about 25-30 down and 25-30 back up.

When is this trip, and do you already have your tickets? If not, you could take a slightly later train at Bologna. I believe the one you are looking at, with the 12 minute transfer time, is the ES 9557 which departs Bologna at 16:38. Instead of that one , you could leave 15 minutes later, at 16:53' on ES 9419. That would give you 27 minutes ton transfer, which should be plenty. The Swiss train website sbb.ch, suggests this connection as they don't trust Italian trains to be on time. The Italian train website, on the other hand, has you transfer in Verona or Padua instead of Bologna for many of the routes. That puts you on the fast ES train sooner, so it costs more.
