Blu Express opinions and baggage question,

I'm looking at flying on Blue Express from Nice to Rome and I would like to hear if anyone has strong opinions about them. I already know that they will hit us up for baggage charges that I plan on buying when I book which is OK but I am a bit concerned about the details of their baggage policy. I will have a small day pack and a combo backpack/suitcase that I normally carry on US flights with no problem. It looks like I will need to pay the two bag fee for this which is OK but do you know if I will need to check the larger backpack? Also the backpack is made to fit the US size requirements like the Rick Steves bags but it can be overstuffed and be an inch or two thicker and I have heard that some of these airlines are real strict on that. Is that likely to be a problem? Thanks, Greg

You are very wise to know that you will be facing possbile extra fees for your luggage. Have you read all of the terms and conditions on the Blu Express website. It will really explain their weights and sizes. Here's the link. http://www.blu-express.com/en/luggage.html While on this page, click on the link at the bottom of the information and look at other information on their larger Terms and Conditions page. In the U.S. you can usually get by with a few extra pounds and inches. Not easily done on the budget airlines in Europe. They make a lot of extra money on those extra inches and pounds.

Thanks, I decided to go on and book the flight since this will be a key step in our itenerry and will let us avoid a long train ride one day. It was odd that their web site would not let me select USA as a country and then it would not take my credit card. I was not sure it that was because the billing address was not exactely right with "other" as the country or that the credit card company rejected a Euro purchase. I called the credit card company and made sure that it should have accepted the Euro charge and it still did not work. I ended up booking the same flight on Budgetair.com and it allowed a US address and was in dollars so it went through just fine. The checked bags might have been close to the 20 KG limit so I went on and payed a few euros more to get some extra weight. I might have been able to keep it under 20 kilograms but I'm the type of guy that would worry about that so the piece of mind was worth it to me.
