Bla Bla carshare

For our extended trip we may want to use this, however, I just heard about it recently on this forum. Has anyone used it? How did it go? Is it best to get the app?

This is basically a kind of organized hitch hiking. These things have been around for a long time. It is an option for people for whom saving as much money as possible is more important than anything else.

So someone who is planning to drive from eg. Paris to Lyon offers his free seats on the site, and you can then ride along, and share in the costs. And keep the driver entertained. It is often drivers that want to have someone to talk to on a long trip that do this, hence the "Bla Bla".

You will find out that options to actually go where you want to go, at the time when you want to go will be very limited...

We did it to get home here in France from an airport four hours away during a strike period. It's a transportation method that's, in fact, promoted by the government in France to try to keep fill vehicles. Drivers and passengers are enrolled on the website where you can also see reviews. It worked well for us. We were dropped at a Burger King (unofficial BlaBla rendez-vous points) in our town and had a Bolt, which is like Uber, take us to our door at midnight.

It wasn't a question of cost for us. There were no more trains home for that day, and my husband wanted to avoid another hotel. He was also glad to avoid five hours on two local trains to get home.

I have looked at it a couple of times but never found anything that worked for what I wanted to do.
