Anyone ever use one? Any suggestions? Anyway to talk to the driver before you book?
Bla Bla cars.... that's funny! The name does not instill confidence.
Hi James, yes! I used BlaBlaCar to get from Chamonix to the Geneva airport a few weeks ago. I believe Rick actually recommends this company in his guidebook. I don't think you can talk to the driver before you make a reservation, but I'm really not sure. I rode on a large bus that picked up about 25 people from the main Chamonix bus station. It was an easy process, on time, etc...
BigMikeWestByGodVirginia; the name does not instill confidence with me either.
It appears to work sort of like Uber, but in reverse (this is where I am going, who wants to come along)
You sign up for their app
You tell them where you want to go and when
A screen pops up with people who are making the same trip and offering to let you ride for $$$
It can be a independent bus company or uncle Joe in his 63 Trabant heading to Belarus for groceries....
My only other choice is a 1:40 am 5 hour international bus ride in a country where very few people speak English and under circumstances that are bound to be confusing; so I might give it a try. Or maybe not.....
For months, I got emailed receipts for somebody taking rides in Sao Paulo. I haven't been in Sao Paulo in 40 years. Bla Bla eventually figured it out, but only after I put up with a lot of their blah, blah, blah.
You gotta do it, James. We need a detailed report of your experience. How bad could it be?
