We are flying on Iceland Air to Amsterdam in a few days. Has anyone bid for an upgrade to business or 1st class on Iceland Air? Is it worth it? What price range is generally accepted as a bid? We are only a 6 hour flight from Chicago to Reykivak, then a 3 hour flight to Amsterdam.

I tried once. It quickly escalated to an amount I was unwilling to pay. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what that amount was. There were 3 of us and it was a 7 hour flight. My memory was that the basic seats were comfortable and the pitch suffficient for my 5’11” husband. I think we purchased food and it was much better than what you get on typical US domestic flights.

Icelandair does not have first class. It has Saga class which is like the old business class on other airlines.

We are actually trying this right now on our Norwegian Air flight from Denver to Paris. We have only bid $250 each to upgrade.
My brother in law bid $300 for each of their two seats on this same flight and got it !
I think it truly is a function of the "open seats" on your flight. Good luck !

I flew Iceland Air in May this year from Reykjavik to Toronto and got upgrade to Saga class with the amount of $300. The service was fine, I was sick getting back to Canada so they were checking up on me constantly. I was happy with the cost, I don't know if I was bidding little bit lower will I get the upgrade. You can try with lower amount and see what happens.
