Bid for upgrade on Luftansha

Has anyone had success with bid for upgrade on Luftansha? Whether you did or didn't - when did they contact you? I'm 36 hours out from flight

I got an upgrade on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Portland, OR a few years ago when my earlier originating flight to FRA had been cancelled and I consequently missed my original connecting flight out of FRA. I was polite to the gate agent and he upgraded me from coach to business class. I still appreciate it.

Just a random thing. Rare, most likely, but not impossible.

I bid on an upgrade on Norwegian last fall. I bid $200.00 for a Business Class upgrade, which was accepted. It was in October and the flight was not full so I’m sure that played a role. They emailed me 24 hours before departure to let me know that my bid was accepted and that my seat was changed.

Maybe it's not important to you , but before I bid, I would check to make sure there aren't "middle" seats in the Business Class. Such things do exist. And you could both (?) get separate window seats in different rows, couldn't you? I much prefer Lufthansa business class to United business class.

I bid on Aer Lingus business class last year, but the bid was not accepted. I think they told me this via email at least 48 hours before my flight.

I had success several times on intra European but never on transatlantic flights. I got notifications not later than 24 hours before take off. You should get an email notification if your offer was declined too.

thank you. Did you bid the minimum? I bid to where it met the 2nd color on their little scale

No, I offered the proposed surcharge (€700, if I remember correctly, approx. the price of the normal economy ticket MUC - EWR - MUC) and even that was declined. Recently I offered €80 for ATH - MUC (about 50% surcharge on the one way price) and that was accepted (the business class was only half full. I think it doesn't really pay off on intra-European flights - the only really attractive thing was the access to the LH Lounge in ATH, where there was a great buffet).

Thank you. About 32 hours out. Haven’t heard anything. On expert flyer there are 9 seats available but 8 are blocked out.
