Bicycling In Europe- -Shop Rental VS. Public Sharing Bikes

Hello All,
My wife and I are going to Roubaix, France, to watch the "Hell Of The North" (Paris-Roubaix) bike race.
Rather than staying in Roubaix for the pre- and race-day(s) we are staying in Lille.
We will be taking the train from Lille to Roubaix. We anticipate traffic to be challenging.
Our plan is to rent bikes to get around.
I tried looking up places to rent bikes in Roubaix.
What I discovered was that there were few if any bike shops that had rentals, instead there is the public sharing bike system- -Station V'lille.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular service in Roubaix.
Thank you for your kind responses.

Have not use those services in Roubaix but in general the bike sharing program is designed to get from point A to B in reason period of time. Not designed for all day rental. And if you are accomplish cyclists, then these are not the type of bike you would want to ride for more than an hour. Tend to be more of the cruiser style as opposed to a touring bike. Gearing is marginal along with the seat and a very upright position. In the past we have found it difficult to rent quality bikes for an extended trip so now we just drag our bikes along. Also helmets are often not available so if a helmets is critical then bring your own.

I think they are looking to rent bikes for local mobility and not to participate in the ride itself.
