Best Way to travel from Paris to Normandy to London

My family will be in Paris in April. We plan to spend four days in Paris and then go to Normandy for an overnight trip and then head to London (we fly out of London). Is our most efficient option to take a train from Paris to Bayeax, stay overnight and then take the ferry to Portsmouth and train to London? My family really wants to see the key highlights of Normandy (I realize we can't see it all in less than 48 hours). I just want to make sure I select the most efficient methods of travel. Thanks,
Lisa

That is one way to do it. I think the ferry cross at that point is five hours. You might find it faster to return to Paris and take the Eurostar to London.

While I am a fan of the Brittany Ferries route between Portsmouth and Caen, you need to look at the options in detail to see if it works for you. The website is at www.brittany-ferries.co.uk. There are usually three ferries per day. One is overnight. The others leave at about 08.30, arriving mid afternoon, or leave mid-afternoon, arriving late at night. You have to allow for waiting time before boarding, and going through immigration on arrival at Portsmouth. Only you know the timetable for the rest of your trip, and can tell if the ferry would suit you. The ferries are large, comfortable and well-equipped with restaurants. Most of the passengers will be travelling with their own vehicles, and the times may be better suited to their needs.

Lisa, could you not go directly to Normandy when you land in Paris for your one day there and then spend your 3 or 4 days in Paris before taking the Eurostar to London?
