2 adults and 2 children traveling to London from Amsterdam at the end of October. We would like to get there fairly quickly but also don't want to pay a lot of money. Any suggestions? Thank you.
EasyJet to Gatwick
EasyJet to Gatwick, buying early and being extra super careful to precisely jump through all the hoops without touching the sides. Otherwise the price may jump - but they're no RyanAir.
We used Easyjet a month ago. cost was about $50 per person.
Do you want to avoid the time and expense of getting to and from airports? Would you like a comfortable and relaxing ride? You can travel the entire route by train in a little over five hours for as little as €50 for an adult 2nd class ticket. Child fares can be less. Take an IC train from Amsterdam to Brussels and a Eurostar train from Brussels to London. Book the entire route at www.nshispeed.nl/en.
This combination of IC + Eurostar takes too long. If you are to travel by train, buy a Thalys + Eurostar ticket instead. There is nothing to see in the route, it could be mode dull and full of noise-barriers and so.
For about $100 per person(314.12 euros total for 4 people), so not my definition of cheap, you can fly City Jet, the old VLM Airlines, from Amsterdam Schipol to London City Airport. If you figure leaving Amsterdam 2 1/2 hours before the flight, giving 2 hours at the airport, and 1 1/4 hours flight time, then you are in the Docklands in less than four hours. That is probably the quickest option, and it cheaper and faster than the Thalys Eurostar price I found with a quick search.
