best way to get to portofino from MILAN/MALPENSA

We are arriving early 8:30am Milan/Malpensa and want to head directly to Portofino on the September 4th. We will head back to STRESA,LAKE MAGGIORE on the 7, which is a Friday, and want to head over to Bellagio on the 9th of September for a few days before heading back to Milan for flight back to United States...What would be the easiest mode of transportation be between all these stops? Train? and what train would we be using to head over to to Portofino??

Train it to Santa Margarita Ligure from Milan centrale then bus it to Portofino. Check www.trenitalia.com website for train schedules and routes.
Milan is the train hub.

On the Trenitalia site you must enter the full name of the station with the correct spelliing or you will get an "invalid station" message. The station is S. Margherita Ligure-Portofino. Allowing up to an hour to clear immigration/passport control and another hour to get from Malpensa to Milano Centrale, the first train you could take leaves Milano Centrale at 11:10. You will connect at Genova Piazza Principe and Rapallo, and arrive at S. Margherita Ligure-Portofino at 13:37.

You can also take the boat from S. Margarita Ligure to Portofino. Is a very scenic ride. If travelling directly from the airport to your hotel in Portofino, probably makes more sense to take the bus with your luggage. But if you are out and about on following days I would recommend the boat trip. Portofino is really small, so you'll probably want to check out S.M.L one day, it's a nice little town.
