The first question is what will be your closest point of approach to England from the continent?

pensacola, that was exactly my point: what would be the best point to take a train/flight/bus/ferry to london?
both time and money in mind...

If this is an academic exercise, the obvious answer is the Calais-Dover ferry and then the train to London. That's the shortest in distance and money, but begs the question of why you'd go to Calais anyway.

The eurostar from either Brussels or Paris is undoubtedly faster. It's more expensive, but, for me, when traveling time is money. Why try to save a few euros and spend most of the day doing it?

If you've never been through the Chunnel before, it might be more fun to take the Eurostar from Brussels or Paris. You can get savings fares as low as EUR50 if you buy in advance.

ed (sorry for the "pensacola" before, my mistake) it's not an exercise, just wondering where to go first and second...

so, i see brussels or paris and then train would be the best choice.

thanks everyone!

Fly Easy Jet to Gatwick and take the train in to Victoria Station. Go online ahead of time and buy day passes for the British Rail and it will be very cheap.
