I recently saw a Rick Steve's show where he went to Slovenia and i've got to go check it out. The only problem is I'm having a tough time figuring out the best way to get there from Northern Italy, either Trieste or Venice. Can anyone suggest if I should take a train or a bus? Has anyone every gone from Italy to Lake Bled? How did you do it? Any help would be appreciated.

I did the trip in reverse (Lake Bled to Venice) a few years ago. Prior posters say the train I took between Ljubljana and Trieste no longer runs, but look about a half page down from your post (question from Sue) for links to current train/bus schedules. Once you get to Ljubljana train station, you can take a bus from the adjacent bus station to Lake Bled (ticket kiosk is just outside main train station entrance to the right). The trip was easy but took several hours.

Enter "Lesce Bled" as the destination. The train station is about 5k from the town but there are many taxis available.
