Best way to get from Siena to Civitavecchia

Could someone please give me a hand?
I'm looking for the best way to get from Siena to Civitavecchia, and couldn't find it (or any mention of Civitavecchia) in Rick Steve's Italy book. I'd rather not go all the way to Rome and back.

Thanks for your help!

Civitavecchia is the main port town for cruise ships and ferries leaving for the Mediterranean & N. Africa and is nearby to Rome.
Chris, I took that same journey this past June.
Siena is one of those towns where the bus station is right next to town - even the train station is reached by bus. You could take a bus to the train station, then train to Rome and then onto Civitavecchia. However, I discovered a different route because it saved us a layover, I think. Siena - Grosseto by bus (it lets you off at the train station). Then hop on any of the lines that run down the coast to Civitavecchia train station. Take a bus or cab to the port (don't walk, trust me), there you are.

You can do this easily by train with only one or two connections. Some routes go through Rome and some don't. For detailed timetables, go to www.bahn.de and click on "Internat. Guests" for English. After you enter your departure and arrival points, you'll get summary timetables. Click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points.

For fares as well as timetables, go to www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html.
