Hi there, I couldn't find much information on any of the boards, so I'm hoping someone can help here. How can I get from Salzburg to Lucerne on train? Doesn't seem to have a direct route, unless I'm not doing my search and lookup correctly. Thanks in advance,
Lily
You have to change trains once on the way, in Zurich. Use either the Swiss or German rail site, www.rail.ch or www.bahn.de to see the route and schedules.
Thank you. I went to SBB and tried to buy the tickets, but the site kept breaking connection with me. Then I finally made it to "check out" and then lost my connection again. When I tried purchasing again, the special offer was gone and only 30 days out in the calendar was available to click on, as opposed to the earlier session when I could click on the further out travel date desired. I just don't understand why this happened. Is there a different price for international travelers vs. local residents?
Persistence paid off. I finally got through and bought my train tickets at the special offer, which equals a much reduced price. Thanks for the info to help me get started.
Excellent! Those special offers on SBB are a great As for having trouble with the site, I too had difficulty yesterday; the site would not load or took forever. It is normayy very reliable, so I don' t know what is going on. But at last you did get your tickets. Enjoybyour trip.
If you use the German Rail website and book well in advance, you can get Salzburg to Luzern, via Munich and Zurich for as little as €39 with a Europe-Spezial Schweiz ticket.
I got the tix, reserved seats from Salzburg to Zurich, then open seating from Zurich to Lucerne, for CHF 52.00 which is almost $ for $ to USD. So I suppose it's about the same as €39. Also, choosing First Class was tempting, but I thought I'd save the money for food.
