Children < 16 years are free on ALL Swiss public Transport (and even to Jungfrau and Schilthorn) when they travel with their parents. Bypass Interlaken and head up into the hills via Lauterbrunnen and on up to Mürren or Wengen (free on Swiss Pass). Affordable accomodations in Mürren is definitely the Chalet Fontana or the Sports Center.

If you book online early (up to 92 days) on the German Rail website, you can get Munich all the way to Mürren or another venue in the Oberland for as low as €39 2nd class (€69 1st) for each adult (under 15 would be free).
