Best way to get from Lucca Italy to Paris?

What is the best way to get from Lucca to Paris? I heard take the train...but I would like not to switch trains. I dont necissarily need to leave from lucca but around there..like viarregio, pisa, florence etc... It would be myself and my daughter...is it safe too?

Sandra, Travel by train from Lucca to Paris will be about a 12-hour trip, so probably not the best choice. That would involve 2-4 changes, which unfortunately is a often unavoidable when travelling in Europe. Given the long travel time, my preference would be to use a budget flight from Pisa to Paris. One possibility would be a flight from PSA to ORY (travel time 1H:40M). There may be other flights available, but I haven't checked. You can easily travel from Lucca directly to Pisa Airport via train (travel time 1H:01M, one change at Pisa Centrale). At least one change is inevitable. "is it safe too?" Could you elaborate? What aspect of "safety" are you referring to? Happy travels!

Yes budget flight sounds better. How do I find a budget flight. I have been out of touch with international flying for 14years and I am not familiar with airlines. Do you have any names? By safe I meant we are carrying 5 peices of luggage(includes carryons) and dont want them to get lost. I have been reading how much you need to keep an eye on them...didnt know how I would on the train. Thank you so much!

Agree with Ken on the flight...... it's with Easyjet & you can book it on their website. The biggest negative with the budget airlines is that the cost to take extra luggage can be quite high - try to pack as light as possible.

On weekdays the easyJet flight from Pisa to Orly departs at 14:05. There are two flights on Saturday departing at 09:15 and 16:50. There are two flights on Sunday departing at 09:00 and 20:30. Like all budget airlines, easyJet has a strict check-in deadline policy. If you don't have a boarding pass in hand at the time of the deadline, your ticket will be worthless. Please pack light! If you don't, you'll pay nearly as much to check your luggage as you'll pay for your tickets. On trains carry on-sized luggage will fit in the rack above your seat. Larger luggage goes on the shelves at the end of the car. If you're concerned about theft, use a cable lock to secure whatever you put out of your sight.
