Best way to get from Italy to Prague?

My husband and I are planning on visiting both Italy and Prague in April. I am trying to figure out what the best mode of transportation to take. We would most likely be leaving from Venice or Milan. Is there an overnight train that goes that far or should we just plan on flying? Any suggestions would be great!

If you travel by train, you're in for a long ride. See the timetables at www.bahn.de. Enter Venezia Santa Lucia, Milano, and Praha. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points. The best night train route (one change) I found was Venice to Salzburg, changing to a fast train from there to Prague.

Even though I love trains, I might recommend flying in this case. Sky Europe flies Venice Treviso-Prague, easyJet flies Milan Malpensa-Prague, Sky Europe flies Milan Orio al Serio (Bergamo)-Prague. FYI, www.whichbudget.com is the budget airline search engine I used to find these routes. If I were flying from Milan and it fit my schedule, I'd leave from Malpensa rather than Bergamo. Bergamo is quite a ways from Milan. With budget airllnes, the longer you wait to book the higher the fare.
