We will be traveling from Bellagio to Florence on April 30, 2024. We will have luggage and from what I can tell, you cannot travel on ferries with med/large luggage - only backpacks or small suitcases. Is this correct? Trying to determine best way to get to Florence. Options (1) Taxi to Milan Central and catch train there, (2) taxi to Como and take train from there to Milan and then to Bellagio (having to change trains twice). We are in our 60's and prefer convenience. Or am I mistaken and you can you take large luggage on ferries? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Where did you get the idea there is a baggage restriction?
i have to believe there are a large number of tourist folk who get to Bellagio by train to Varenna and then the ferry with their bags to stay at Bellagio hotels

Your hotel may also help you with this information. Or contact the local Tourist Information Center, I believe there's an office in Varenna.

Your question is how to get from Bellagio to Florence.
Ferry from Bellagio to Varenna.
Train from Varenna-Esino to Milan.

No restriction on size of luggage when we took the ferries on the lake.
You will have to walk uphill a little to the train station at Varenna after getting off the ferry, so don’t take luggage that is too big to handle, or too big to get it on and off trains!
