We will be traveling several places by train and I'm wondering if I should just get a ticket each time or if there's a better way to do it. We will be going from Heathrow to Paddington, then going between London and High Wycombe 4 times and then from London to Nottingham. There will be one last train trip into London and then out to Heathrow. Any suggestions on the best way to purchase tickets? Thanks!!!
Hi Jenny,
The Heathrow-Paddington could be purchased online, I believe, whether you want the Connect or Express.
At Paddington you could probably be able to use the Advance tickets window, if you know the dates of your trips.
If you know the exact times of your plans, perhaps buy them ahead, online, and pick them up at the station.
Cheers.
If you are able, buy your Nottingham tickets in advance. It will be much cheaper than on the day
also the heathrow express is cheaper if you buy it on line than buying it at the station
Thanks for all the information! Can you buy an advance Heathrow Express ticket and still have flexibility as to which train to catch? Our plane is supposed to land about 9:15am and I have no idea how long it will take us to clear customs and get where we need to be for the train.
The same question applies to the one to Nottingham but I guess I should go to the website and see what I can find out for myself. Although I do love getting answers from well informed people!
And, are there combination train/underground/bus tickets that we can get for our day trip from High Wycombe into London? Thanks again for all your help!
Jenny,
Yes, a ticket for the Heathrow Express is good for any train. However, the Heathrow Connect is much cheaper and only about ten minutes slower. The fare for the HC is 7.90 GBP while the fare for the HEX is 16.50 GBP. FYI, the fare on the Tube from Heathrow to anywhere in central London is 4.00 GBP.
Details of travelcards etc available from High Wycombe to London.

If you buy the train tickets you will be able to use the 2 for 1 entry ticket deals below

Jenny - This passed summer we used national express to purchase train tickets and picked them all up at Kings cross station with no problems. For us there was a big savings for purchasing our tickets in advance.
We also used the Heathrow Connect to get to the airport. We purchased that ticket on the day we left. I wanted to take the tube to Heathrow, but the boss said no.
As Linda mentioned, you can also take advantage of the 2 for 1 deals.
