Best way to Abney Park Cemetery?

Can someone please help me with the best way to get from Lambeth North Tube station to Abney Park Cemetery?

I have two different sets of directions, and the TFL journey planner has given me a third option.

One of the sets of directions calls for getting on the Overground, and if I take that route, I'm not sure where it's best to get on it. I think I was on the Overground once before--I went to Nunhead Cemetery and I remember passing by the Battersea Power Station on the way.
Thanks very much!

Not a journey I've made before, but catching the 76 bus at Baylis Road / Lower Marsh and riding it all the way to Stoke Newington High Street (Stoke Newington Church Street bus stop) is the most straightforward. As always with London, there's a myriad of different ways to do it though. Bring a sandwich!

Enjoy your time in beautiful Stokey! :) I'd guess you're trying to see all the "magnificent seven"?

The problem is that there are two different entrance gates, hence differing directions.

A London based colleague of mine went there a few weeks ago, and brought back a lot of work for me!!

She commuted into Waterloo from South London, took the 76 from Waterloo and said it was a very long bus ride. I doubt the 73 bus from Oxford Circus is much faster.

She came back on the Overground to Seven Sisters, then the Victoria Line tube to Oxford Circus then the Bakerloo to Waterloo (Lambeth North for you) which was far nicer to her, personally. Certainly much faster, apparently.

Like Gerry says there are many ways to get there or do any journey in London. The 73 takes you to the other entrance than the 76.

Thank you! I'm not fond of bus rides in London so I guess I will get the Overground.

Ah that's a shame you don't like bus rides! You'd see so much of London that a lot of visitors don't see from the top deck of a 76 or 73 all the way out to Stoke Newington.

Stuart was spot on suggesting changing at Seven Sisters. Without the help of mapping software, my intuition would have been to take the tube to LIverpool Street and catch the Overground to Stoke Newington there, if I didn't want to do the marathon single bus route.
