Due to track construction our train from Prague to Vienna is arriving at Wien Meidling vs. regular station. How to get to hotel via public transportation? Thanks so much!
Hi Dan, I'm not very familiar with the tram/bus system in Vienna, so the only way I could advise you is via the U-Bahn. The Meidling U-Bahn station is actually called Philadelphiabrücke, and is along the brown U-6 line. Here is what you would do: 1) Board the U-6 line (in the direction of Floridsdorf), and ride it for two stops to Längenfeldgasse. 2) Transfer to the green U-4 line (in the direction of Heiligenstadt), and ride it for 4 stops to the Karlsplatz station. 3) Disembark at Karlsplatz, and your hotel website indicates it is a 0.5 km (0.3 mile) walk from the U-Bahn station to the hotel. Here is a pretty good map of the Vienna U-Bahn system: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:U-Bahn_Wien.png However, as mentioned above, I'm not very familiar with the tram/bus systems, so there very well may be a more direct route by using one of those. When I mapped your hotel by using Google Maps, it seems there are a few tram stops closer to the hotel than the Karlsplatz station. In the event you don't get further advice on this post, you may want to consider asking over on the TripAdvisor.com Vienna forum, as many of the regular posters on that site are residents of Vienna. Good luck!
Thanks for the info! We ended up taking a commuter train to the Wien Mitte stop and walking about a .5 miles to the hotel.
Wow, that was fast! I figured you were asking for a trip down the road sometime! Hope you have a great time in Vienna!
