We are arriving on a Saturday morning to Venice airport, what is the best way to get to our hotel? Staying at Hotel ai do Mori.
This question comes up once a week. basically 3 choices. 1. bus/vaporetto, combi ticket for 10 euro takes 1 1/2 hour or more 2. Alilaguna boat, 17 euro, 1 to 1 3/4 hour.
3. water taxi, 100 euro, 1/2 to 3/4 hour. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187870-s301/Venice:Italy:Arriving.And.Departing.html
The "best" way is probably the 100Euro private water taxi. Airport to door in 30-40 minutes. But, there are other much less expensive ways to do this. You can also take the Alilaguna Blu line. It does go via Lido first and then to San Marco which is your stop. 15Euro but it does take longer. The nice thing about the Alilaguna is that you can avoid buying vaporetto passes (which are sold by the hour - 24, 36, 48, etc.) a bit longer. The last way is to take the airport bus from Marco Polo to the Piazalle Roma (7Euro) and then take the No #1 vaporetto to San Marco (7Euro for a single ticket).
Randy, The "best" option in terms of cost is www.alilaguna.it/en but if speed is more important and cost is no object then a Water Taxi would be "best". Cheers!
