Best Way from Rome to Fiumicino for 7a flight??

Does anyone know the best/least expensive way to get from Rome to the Fiumicino/Leonardo Da Vinci Aeroport for a 7a flight? Should I book a hotel near the Aeroport and cab/taxi in or should I go straight from Rome via a Tube/Rail system the night before, and just hang-out in the aeroport? I have one day in Rome (fly in July 3rd 7a and fly out July 4th 7a). Thanks for any and all help!! :-)

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times, but know that when they say "the walk takes around 7 minutes"...bullcorn. The first stay, we timed it - 30 minutes. The second, more recent stay - definitely 30+ minutes. And we hoof it! No strolling...Some people tried to avoid the walk by taking a taxi to and from the airport; they consistently got quotes from drivers for 50€!!! Another reason for packing lightly. It's a great hotel; just plan ahead for actually getting to the airport terminals. You won't be checking in for your flight in 5 minutes. They do have a free, bi-hourly shuttle to downtown, but you are about an hour from 'downtown', so it's not a quickie trip to and from. If you stay there, maybe you could leave your luggage there on the morning of the 3rd and use their shuttle or take the Leonardo Express into Rome (14€). Email them for their shuttle schedule, maybe. The taxi will be 48€.

For a 7am domestic flight you need to be there by 5:30. You can easily order a shared shuttle from you hotel leaving around 4:45 to 5. Enjoy the night in Rome.
