I have a group of 10 people. We will be in Interlaken, Switzerland in September next year. What is the best way to get from there to Munich? We are considering car rental and trains. Is flying an option? Thanks, Kerry

By train the journey time is a little over seven hours. The best connection is the 8:06 train from Interlaken West station with a connection at Karlsruhe. Standard fare is 192CHF advance restricted fare is 83CHF. Check schedules and fares at rail.ch There are direct flights out of Zurich but Zurich airport is a two hour+ journey from Interlaken. The tiny Bern airport also has a direct flight via Cirrus Airlines but it uses small planes so tickets will probably be expensive.

From Interlaken Ost, German Rail will sell you a Europa-Spezial Schweiz ticket to Munich for as low as €39 per person online with advance purchase.

Use the German Rail website, http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en Put in Interlaken Ost and Munich, and a date at least 3 days, preferably up to 92 days, in advance. Look under Savings Fares.
