Best transportation option from CDG to downtown Paris?

Hello, fellow travellers!

My family will be heading to Paris next week with a small child and lots of luggage in tow. To minimize the hassle factor after an all-night flight, I'd prefer to skip public transportation so I'm looking for a convenient and reasonably priced alternative to taking a large group in a couple of taxis. We're staying at Hotel De l'Empereur on rue Chevert in the 7th.

Any recommendations?
Greer

Do you have the RS Paris Guide Book yet? If so, great. If not, I would suggest you either buy one (you can order it elsewhere on this web site) or find one to look at in a library or book store. I had lots of good information about getting from the airport into town that we use when we arrived there in June of this year.

Check out the Viator website, the offer great grounds transportation at reasonable rates. You'll probably want to look into "shared shuttle service"

Shared shuttle services tend to require booking for a specific pick up time and don't have much reputation for waiting if your flight is late. Be sure to confirm how they handle those issues. Regular taxis, on the other hand, are always waiting. Your earlier posts only mentioned two adults and one child, who would fit into any cab.

Hi Greer, contact the Hotel L'Empereur and ask if they have a recommendation for a reliable shuttle service. They may even make a reservation on your behalf. I've stayed there several times, great location, wonderful, helpful staff.

PS - re-think the "lots of luggage". You will not regret packing lighter, especially with a small child. Plan a mix & match wardrobe. Plan to do some sink laundry. Google laundromats or ask at the desk, there are a few in the neighborhood. Honestly, nobody will notice or care what you're wearing.

Love Paris, have a great time!

You are going to be tired. Take a taxi or taxis. It is not cheap, but truthfully, sometimes you need to take care of your physical needs (tired, small child, etc) and not worry about the cost. Your trip is not meant to be grueling, it is meant to be a pleasure. Take care of yourselves by spending when it makes sense to spend and saving when it makes sense to save.

Hi Greer. We recently returned from Paris. I had researched Air France Bus, RER etc. and just opted for a taxi. We had a family of four and it ended up being the easiest option. It was reasonable and kept everyone happy, especially after the flight over the "pond". Have a great time.

Taxi. Stayed at that hotel several years ago and it is quite nice. Very convenient to pretty much everything and right across from a relatively quiet metro station. Enjoy your stay.
