After we arrive at Heathrow Airport, we will need to get to Nottinghill. On my last trip, we stayed in Victoria Station area so we just took the Tube via Piccadilly line into the city. This time, though, I wonder if it's better to take Heathrow Express? Does anyone know? Also, is it a lot more expensive than taking the tube? Thank you!
This site seems to show the options---- https://www.heathrow-airport-guide.co.uk/transport.html
I think the metro is your best bet. Take the blue line from Heathrow direction, Cockfosters. Get off at Earl's Court and take the the green line, direction Edgeware. there is a stop on this line for NottingHill Gate. This is the closest stop to Nottinghill. We stayed in Bayswater the last time in London, it is the next stop. Several of Rick's hotels are in this area. One suggestion, if you are in the area on a Saturday, make sure to go to the Portebello Market. Incredible! Go early for smaller crowds, people start arriving in droves around 10:30. Have agreat time! Hank, Novato, Ca.
It could be possible that you are correct that the Heathrow Express might be worth considering as an option (not necessarily that expensive if you buy in advance etc), but since you haven't actually stated where you are staying it is impossible to say.
If you actually meant within the vicinity of Notting Hill Gate station, then I'd say no.
Don't refer to tube lines in London by colour, it will confuse people. Also, don't abbreviate "Edgware Road" to "Edgware", there is a completely different tube station in London called Edgware at the place the road is named after, which is a long way away.
If you are staying near Notting Hill (two words) Gate tube station, the easiest route is to take the Piccadilly Line to Earl's Court and then a District Line towards Edgware Road. Do NOT take any other District Line train from Earl's Court as there are many branches. Also, it's not worth changing from the Piccadilly to the District at Hammersmith as there are no direct District Line trains from Hammersmith towards Notting Hill.
