In October my husband and I are flying into Zurich, taking the train to Lucerne and then taking the Golden Pass train to Interlaken, then to Lauterbrunnen for 3 days. When we leave we are going to Fussen, Germany. We are buying the Swiss Saver Pass, so I think all my travel is covered, but my questions are: 1) will I need additiional reservations for the Golden Pass segment? 2) what would be the best route to get to Fussen using my Swiss Pass? Thank-you.
kathy, I'll let someone else answer your question about the best route. There are options using a boat, a bus or all train, but I do not know which is "best." But are you aware that some Swiss passes are 2-for-1 for travel in October? The 4-day Swiss and the 4-day Flex are the ones on this deal. The Flex Pass gives you 4 days of full coverage and the rest at 50% so that might work well for you. You have to use "covered days" for your first and last, but I believe that would cover at 50% the boat trip across the Bodensee if you decide to go that route. Or you could use the less expensive 4-day Swiss Pass and try to find a discounted ticket from Interlaken into Germany on bahn.de.
