Is there a great train route and is there a suggested evening stop over on the train route
Take a flight, this route is too circuitous, too long for a train trip. Croatia withdrew 80% of their international trains last December.
Hi, The key point here, ie., going from Zagreb to Geneva, is to find a junction point. There is one. If you want to do this ride with the least interruptions, very doable, then I would suggest this way: Take the EN night train from Zagreb to Munich, arr at 0615., almost nine hrs. ...a good ride. Then Munich dep 0717 to Geneva with a change in Zürich....basically two changes Munich and Zürich. You arrive in Geneva at 1441. You could also stay the night in Munich as a way of breaking up the ride, then take this 0717 dep the next morning. Numerous hotels and Pensionen are in the area of Munich Hbf. as well as hostels.
Hi Andre, Just read your reply to this post and, as I am currently doing research for a trip this April, was concerned by your note on Croatian international trains. I have been using the DB site to check my routes so can I assume that they would have been d for any Croatian changes?
I plan to take the daily train from Budapest to Zagreb and then 2 days later go from Zagreb to Venice via Villach. Thank you for any info. Ted
I read this on the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree forum: "Easyjet start to fly to Geneva from both Dubrovnik and Split on May 18 for maybe 50-60 euro" So if you are making this trip after May 18, you could make your way to either Split or Dubrovnik and fly.
