Best time to book European flights

I am planning to fly to Frankfurt Germany this July from Detroit. Wondering when the best time to book flights would be. I have seen some decent prices lately, but wife thinks we should wait until the date gets closer as prices will continue to drop with less people probably travelling.

There is no firm answer. It is a dice roll. Buy it when YOU think the price is reasonable. You might look at farecompare.com

You can also monitor airfares by setting up "Alerts" using www.kayak.com

That way you can watch the trends and then buy when you think the price is right.

I agree with Frank--if you find a good fare for summer travel, I'd buy it!

I second the OP. I am looking for an open jaw fare in July. Yesterday, I spent all day and night researching fares. In the morning it was a bit high, then late evening, it was $80 lower than a couple of hours later, it went up by $90. I'm kinda kicking myself that I didn't buy it when it was $80 less.

This is really frustrating me. I am checking prices everyday....I find a price and when I book i get a message that the price has changed. Has anyone every had luck bidding on a flight through priceline?
