Best route from Venice to Lausanne Switzerland

Hello, I had an earlier post that involved a different route from Italy to Switzerland. I have now decided to go to Lausanne from Venice for 2 nights then on to the Berner Oberland for 2 nights and then Zurich for 1 night. Can someone recommend the best route between these destinations? I'm also wondering if it is better to buy point to point tickets or do the Swiss Rail Pass. Thanks

For schedules use the Swiss Rail site: rail.ch The quickest connection is a seven hour journey. Venice to Milan to Lausanne. You should allow a minimum of three days for the BO, in case you run into some bad weather. Skip Zurich.
