Hello all, It seems not all travel websites and airlines find the same deals.
Do you have any recommendations for the best airlines or websites for open-jaw flights to Ireland and from Italy? Also, are the national airlines more problematic for open-jaws from two different countries? Thanks, and happy travels.
I think they all are about the same. Often the airline direct might run a few dollars cheaper than using a search engine but you can always check both ways. A search engine site will combine airlines for open jaw where as the airplane have to have partners airlines if you are using locations that the original does not serve. The national airlines fly everywhere. You just have to search widely for the best deal.

I use kayak.com. It seems to provide the most choices, although still not all of the choices.
www.whichbudget.com, although a clunky site to use, turns up European budget airlines that sellers such as Orbitz or Kayak do not find. These airlines are not necessarily small; easyJet and Ryanair carry vast numbers of passengers. In one way they are easier to use since they sell only single flights. A round trip, for them, is two single trips, at double the price. But they don't do interline or even intraline baggage transfers and each flight requires a separate check-in. For you, Aer Lingus is worth checking out since it is a trans-Atlantic carrier but must compete on prices with the other Irish airline, Ryanair. Aer Lingus does codeshares with other international, or "heritage", airlines which should improve your choices.
Thank you, all, for your replies. We followed all of your tips. In the end, the best deal was via Aer Lingus from JFK. One thing we learned: the prices are "live." We had to change flights by one day on the return because the seats at the lowest price disappeared within timeframe of about 5 minutes. Now on to figuring out the best way to get from Ireland to Italy! Happy, safe travels, everyone.
And thanks again.
