Returning home to San Francisco from Milan, what is the best airport to fly out of. Do we hve to go to Rome or could be fly from Milan? Or would it be best to fly or train somewhere to an airport and fly from there to SF?

Milano Malpensa Airport is Italy's busiest international airport....no reason to trek back to Rome.

Generally when I have flown from Milan to SFO it goes thru another city like Frankfurt for a short connection. Using United , Lutfhansa.
