best airfare websites?

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with the number of websites that survey airfares. I'd love to hear which you've found to be most user friendly and with good deals. (I'm fying open jaw, and can't even see a way to do that on some of the web sites.) Thanks!

To look at open jaw flights, look for a choice that says "multi-city" or something similar. I usually start by comparing flights with Kayak, but I generally book directly with the airline instead of through another service.

I agree with Nancy. Kayak seems the most straightforward and the prices they quote include taxes so are not as misleading as some other sites. I unclick all the Expedia, etc., boxes and then just go to the airlines directly.
