Bernina express v. regular train

Hello I am wondering if instead of taking the Bernina express from Tirano to Chur if the regular train in first class is somewhat superior in that you can open the windows. Also, I understand the regular train takes the same route to Chur as the Bernina express. Is the regular train pretty seamless or do you have to make changes along the way. Also, is there much of a chance that there will not be space aboard the regular train in Mid-August and one could end up stranded. Any help very much appreciated. Thank you so very much. Patrick

Hi Steve I want to thank you for your help. I really appreciate it. The trains can be rather confusing for the uninitiated. Take care. Patrick

The regional trains do not ever " sell out." There are no reservations. Even if the train is so crowded you cannot find a seat ( a rare occurrence), you can still board the train and ride standing.

Others r right. Just get on and go. Same route hourly trains. Don't even worry about class. Enjoy the ride.
