I've done Bern to Milan a few times and loved both the Swiss and Italian portions of the journey, but wondering if the Zurich to Milan route is equally impressive?
Probably even better. It passes the Zug and Lucerne lakes, Mt. Rigi, all the sights of "William Tell", then goes to the massive St. Gotthard's mountains, thru the longest tunnel of Europe (or above the mountain range, where also the spring of the Rhine river is) and then approaches the charming Swiss-Italian lakes (Lugano and Como)...
That's great, thanks for the rec. You mentioned the tunnel or going above the range... is that an either/ or option, could you choose the route with the tunnel or without the tunnel?
By car it's an option. By train it's tunnel only.
