Bern Station

Hello,

Just curious for those of you who have been to Junfrau, if we stay in Interlaken, and take train from Bern to Interlaken with our luggages, does Interlaken have luggage storage place for a day?

Thanks!

Both trains stations in Interlaken have lockers. In fact, I've yet to come across a train station in Switzerland that doesn't have lockers.

Just a travel time note that it will take you about one hour to get from Bern to Interlaken Ost. Then, another 22 minutes on the local Jungfraubahn train to Lauterbrunnen. Then, the cog train from Lauterbrunnen to the Jungfraujoch (Europe's highest train station) will take 2hrs. It will take 2hrs to come back down. The Swiss train people can also route you from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald, Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg and then up to the Jungfraujoch. Either way, you will change trains at Kleine Scheidegg. You'll love the whole experience.

Hello, thank you both for this information. There is one thing I forgot to ask in my last post, we are planning to bring a 28'' luggage, do you know if they offer locker that's big enough for 28" or it's more for carry-on size (20'').

I am looking forward to this trip for sure! Just curious it sounds like we will need to wake up very early in the morning to take the train from Bern to Interlaken -> Lauterbrunnen -> Jungfrauban. Would have any recommendations how long we should stop at each stop and if there are any "must visit" trails/sites?

We are planning to go there in September, I can see some parts are still snowing, just not sure how much winter clothes we need to bring with us.

You're welcome. The lockers come in three sizes, the largest size will give you plenty of room.

You need to get to the top of Junfrau first thing. Early in the mornings is when visibility is best, later in the day the clouds always roll in.
The best hike for after you've visited the Jungfrau, is the Kliene Scheidegg (which is the final train station up to the Jungfrau) to Mannlichen-described in Rick's Switzerland Guidebook.

You don't need to bring heavy winter clothing..dressing in layers is best. It will be freezing at the top of the Jungfrau, but most people quickly retreat into the indoor viewing areas:)

There will be snow at the top of the Jungfrau. Always is. Europe's largest glacier is just outside the window of the building at the Jungfraujoch. It's a very large building. Very comfortable inside. However, you can go outside and enjoy the mountain from there. You might need jackets and gloves - it can get brisk out there.

If you are looking for a trail, I suggest the Kleine Scheidegg/Mannlichen trail. CLICK HERE to see information on this trail. From Mannlichen, you can take the gondola down to Wengen where you can pick up the descending cog train there.
