My wife and I will complete a 7 day best of Germany tour on Sept in Berlin and leave from Frankfurt on Wed Oct 3. We love history and want to see as much as possible on a budget in 3-4 days.
Considerations are see Potsdam,Leipzig, Bamberg and Koblenz, staying overnight in each town then to Frankfurt. Any better ideas? Budget tours, lodging? Train/rail? $ day rail ticket or city to city ticket? Thanks for help

Three to four days are not that many. Koblenz doesn't really fit in. Why don't you do Potsdam, Eisenach (Wartburg castle), Bamberg, Würzburg and then Frankfurt. Your last dinner in Germany could be on the market square of the 12th century walled old town of Frankfurt-Höchst just outside the Höchst castle. Check www.hrs.de and www.hotel.de for budget rates. The Lindner Congress Hotel is just a few blocks from that old market square outside Frankfurt and rooms start from €39 per night.
