Belgian rail strike

I was reading in the European Headlines section on this site and there are talks of a Rail Strike for Belgium on April 30th. I am landing in PAris on May 1st and taking a Thalys train to Brussels and then on to Bruges. Will I still be able to catch the Thalys train to Brussels?? And when I get to Brussels will there be any way to make it to Bruges during a strike? Do talks of strikes ever lead to an actual strike or so they end up working it out? Any response would be greatly appreciated as I am leaving in 2 days and stressing over this!

Depends on exactly which union plans to strike (I couldn't find anything about in on Destandaard.be). Belgian Rail has a partial ownership stake in Thalys, so you could see reduced service. If the strike goes through, you can probably expect even more significant delays within Belgium itself. At least Brugge is not too far from Brussels, alternate transportation shouldn't be that hard to obtain.
