We are driving from Stonehenge to Bath and considering dropping the rental car off in Bath and take the train to London. We have heard that driving in London is a night mare. We plan to spend the late morning early afternoon in Bath on Monday October 25, 2010 and thought about catching the train from Bath to London, in the late afternnon or early evening. Can we easily get train tickets at the Bath train station or is this something we should book in advance? Not knowing how long we will be in Bath could present a problem and if tickets are easily avialable it might better to just wait and get them at the train station when we decide to leave. Or would we be better off dropping the car off closer to London? Thanks in Advance
Bill - I would drop the car off in Bath. The fare will be between £9.50 - £17 per person the day of travel. You can go to www.eastcoast.co.uk to check fares and schedules.
There was good train service between Salisbury and Bath, but the drive isnt too bad, and you get to see the scenery. If you really want to see Bath, are you allowing enough time. You could skip Bath and train from Salisbury to London.
Dropping the car off in London could mean dropping it at Heathrow (which is not driving into London) and is quite easy to do. Then, take the train into London.
