'Vueling ( is that ok?)' - it is a low cost carrier, budget airline, whatever terminology - o.k. in what respect? You have a seat and that is what you pay for. For a flight of an hour and a half, what could be a problem? 'should we rent a car or take a train?' - From B. to P. it is about nine hours non stop by car, not less than about seven by train! 'If train which one?' - what do you mean here?

O.K. I need to clarify. We are trying to get from Barcelona to Bayeux. We will fly from Barcelona to Paris then proceed by either train or rental car to Bayeux. I'm looking for input on:
1) Easy Jet to CDG vs Vueling to Orly vs RyanAir to Basseaux(?) and 2) Depending on the answer to 1); do we proceed by train (how/where to get this) or rental car? Thanks for any help.

According to viamichelin.com, if you drive on autoroutes (freeways) as much as possible, Orly to Bayeux will take around three hours, CDG to Bayeux will take around three hours, and Beauvais (Ryanair's airport) to Bayeux will take around 3.5 hours. All trains to Bayeux depart from Gare Saint-Lazare in central Paris. If you plan to take an organized tour of the D-Day beaches, then you won't need a car in Bayeux. If you want to explore on your own, then your choices are either to rent a car at the airport of your choice and drive to Bayeux or take the train to Caen and pick up a car there.

As we want to do our own thing in Bayeux it sounds like renting the car is the way to go. Now we just have to decide whether to go Vueling to Orly or Easy Jet to CDG - any advice?? Thanks

Bayeux is easier to get to by car from de Gaulle than it is from Orly.

We prefer to take the train from Paris to Caen and pick up our reserved rental car right across the street from the Caen RR station. Bayeux is about 15 miles from Caen. Caen is around 110K population and easier to drive in than Paris. With a rental car you might explore staying in a rural B&B, although Bayeux is a delightful place to stay.
