Barcelona airport to cruise ship and return

Is it better to purchase transfers from the cruise company or take a taxi from the Barcelona airport to the cruise port?

A taxi between the airport and our hotel near the port cost €35 over a year ago. You could go on the Barcelona Trip Advisor to find out the current fare to compare with the cruise company offer.

It's BEST to arrive a day early, find a hotel and then take a taxi to the airport. If you arrive the day of the cruise and your plane is late, the boat may not wait! (If you booked via the cruise line then it MAY wait. If you booked on your own it won't wait and it will be YOUR responsiblity to get to the next port to join the cruise!) Give yourself an extra day :)

Another advantage to arriving a day( or two) before your cruise is if the airline loses one of your bags,, it has the day to find it and send it to your hotel,, if not,, good luck having it every catch up to you!
And of course there is the jet lag issue,, with all one spends on a cruise, and most Med cruises are so port intensive ,, that being dead tired the first day even makes a waste of a port visit possible,,, so arriving a day or two ahead gives you a chance to get with the new time zone and so deal with the actual jet LAG,, and a day or two of rest to deal with the travel FATIQUE,, both huge issues on transalantic flights.
