Has anyone taken the Balkan Express from Belgrade to Istanbul via Sofia, lately. Any comments or advice. Looking to take that train in late March, 2011.

Thank you. I have read seat61 and like this site a lot. Lookng for anyone who has taken the Express lately. Also have looked at the You Tube videos there.

I had a friend who did this trip last year and loved it. From what he said the train was slow but the facilities were good and the locals very friendly. He was on a business trip and was able to use his laptop and mobile phone throughout the journey!
As well as seat61.com you might find my website useful http://www.flightlesstravel.com. We have not got anything on the Balkan Express (yet) but we do have info on other routes through Europe which might be of interest.
