Bahn.de

Hi,

I'm planning to take a train from Zurich to Buchloe (stop @ Neuschwanstein) before going to Munich. I looked up RailEurope and the 2nd class ticket is about ~$200 (from Zurich to Buchloe). On the German rail site (Die Bahn), a 2nd class ticket is ~50 Euro. Guess which one I'd like to buy? My question is - does Die Bahn ship tickets to the United States? The website says free shipping for most tickets, but I'm not sure if it applies to international requests. On-line ticket printing isn't an option for this particular trip.

Thanks! Andrew

Actually bahn.de let's you print your own e-ticket. All it takes is payment by credit card and you need to carry the card with you as form of identification.

It is my understanding that they ship tickets anywhere in the world. I think they want eight business days. Why isn't online printing an option?

Ah, the wonders of RailEurope. Only they would take a 3-1/2 hour, $70 trip and make it round-about so it takes 5-1/2 hours and cost $200.

Note, however, that you could book through RailEurope in two segments - Zurich to Lindau for about $50 and Lindau to Buchloe for $37. Still more than DB.

Lastly, I would just buy my tickets in Europe. You could buy the whole thing in Zurich, or buy just the ticket to Lindau there and buy a Bayern-Ticket single for €19 in Lindau, depending on which is more economical. If you are going on to Neuschwanstein that day, the Bayern-Ticket should be cost effective. It even covers the bus from Füssen to Hohenschwangau

Yes,we ordered tickets on-line for trains from Cologne to Amsterdam with the options to print tickets or have them mailed to us in Canada. Opted for the free mailed tickets and I picket them up @ the post office within 5 days. That's service!

Just wanted to report that the tickets were order and received in California by mail.

It took less than 2 week from order to delivery.
