In trying to decide whether to buy point-to-point vs railpass, I'm using bahn.com to see train schedules. I get the schedules, but it will not give me prices! I don't want to book online, I merely want to know the costs so I can plan ahead. How do I do this online from the USA? Traveling from Pordenone, Italy to Fussen, Germany, Fussen to Munich, and Munich to Paris.
Are you looking too far out. Just use the same day of the week within the next 30 days and you will get the prices.
Make sure to click "Standard Fares", this should give you information about prices.
In general, www.bahn.de will provide the fares for travel either in Germany or for a journey originating in Germany. You definitely won't get the fare from Italy to Fussen but you should get the other two.
Thanks so much for your suggestions, I appreciate them.
I went back on and was able to find the Fussen to Paris costs. However, I can't get Pordenone to Fussen no matter what dates I put in (and clicking Standard Fare only gives a generic fare message). Do I need to break the trip down into all it's parts and search each one separately? Which parts? On which sites, because the trip goes from Italy to Austria to Germany? What is the magic process?
You won't get that fare from Bahn.de because it has multiple connections outside of Germany. I see Perdenone is near Venice. You could use Trenitalia.com to get Perdenone to Venice. Then there are a few connection for which you could get fares for Venice to Munich from the Bahn. There are more fares available from the Bahn for Verona to Munich, but you would have to get Venice to Verona from Trenitalia.
