Baggage storage at La Spezia train station

Does anyone know if one can use the Left-Luggage service in the La Spezia train station for three or four days? They charge by the 12 hours, so I wasn't sure if I could leave it for that long. I'm going to Vernazza for three nights and don't want to lug around the heavy suitcase I'll need for work later in the trip. Most of the lodgings in Vernazza are above many many stairs, so I don't want to try to take the big suitcase up those stairs. Thanks.

Rebecca,

We returned from Vernazza a few days ago. We used the baggage storage for two nights. We paid up front and then paid for an additional twelve hours or so when we retrieved the bags because we stayed longer than anticipated. The attendant referred to a schedule that included charges for far longer than two nights, so you should be fine.

The baggage service was convenient for us and worth the 24 euros or so we spent. We packed our casual clothes into a carry on type bag and left behind the heavier clothes we used for our visit to the Czech Republic and Germany. The weather was quite warm while we were there, so shorts, swimsuits, and a respectable dinner outfit were all we needed.

The office is on the train platform, toward the end. The station is small so we quickly found it after getting our Cinque Terre tickets. We arrived at the luggage office about 6 pm or so and had to ring a bell and wait for five to ten minutes for the attendant to arrive. It was staffed when we returned midday two days later, so we finished with the bags very quickly.

Have a wonderful time in Vernazza. We have just returned and are already planning our next visit.

Elizabeth,

Thanks so much for the luggage storage info! This is a big relief to know. We look forward to our trip to Vernazza next week, first time ever in Italy. Thanks again.--Rebecca
