Connecting from a Lufthansa flight arriving Newark terminal B to United domestic departing terminal C. Bag will be checked to US destination. I know bag must be collected at B to go through customs. I also know one must go outside security to connect from B to C. My question is whether the bag can be re-checked at B before I make the trek to C. Any advice appreciated.

You’ll place your bag on a belt to be sent to your connecting flight before you leave Terminal B. You won’t take it with you through security to Terminal C.
