Baden-Wuerttemberg Travel Options

I am using the DB app to plan part of a trip this May. I am going to be staying in a small town called Oetisheim in Baden-Wuerttemberg. It is only a few miles from the Maulbronn Monastery, and I'm looking into visiting the monastery from there. The trip on the DB app shows it would be on a regional train and then a regional bus. There is no option for price or to buy this ticket on the app. Is this something that would be covered by the Baden-Wuerttemberg local train ticket? There is no train station in Otisheim, so I have to figure out options before I get there. Thank you for any information!

As far as I can see, the connection is as follows:
a. Train (S-Bahn 9) from Ötisheim to Maulbronn West (a journey of 3 mins);
b. Bus (735) Maulbronn West to Maulbronn Kloster (a journey of 5 mins).
It looks the railway station in Ötisheim is unmanned. If it's impossible to buy a ticket (I have once tried a German ticket machine and gave it up after 10 mins), look for the ticket collector on the train and explain the situation.

Most buses will be covered by the regional ticket.

Personally I've never had problems buying tickets from a DB ticket machine as they have an English language option. You don't have to buy a regional ticket on the day of travel, you can give a future date to the machine. Or if you're really worried you can buy the regional ticket from the DB website and get it sent to you.

Thanks for the answers! I didn't think about the option of there being a machine at the train stop to buy tickets. But I might just buy ahead so I won't have to worry about not being able to figure out the machine.

What do you mean by a "Baden-Württemberg local train ticket". If you mean the Baden-Württemberg-Ticket, for 23€ (single) unless you are doing a lot more travel that day, it's overkill. There is also the Ba-Wü Metropol-Ticket, which cover 9 Verkehrverbünde including VPE, but for 20€ (single) it's also overkill.

Your trip is entirely inside the Verkehrsverbund Pforzheim-Enzkreis (VPE, www.vpe.de). The trip from Ötisheim to Maulbronn Kloster goes through 2 zones (60 & 70) and a VPE (local) Preisstufe 2 ticket for 2,30€ will cover both the S-Bahn and the bus.

You will first take the S9 3 minutes to Maulbronn West where you will board bus 735 to Maulbronn. You only spend three minutes on the S9 and there probably isn't a conductor to buy your ticket from anyway (but there could be a fare inspector), so you should have a ticket before you get on the S9. If you don't have the option of selecting Maulbronn as your destination at the ticket automat on the platform at the Ötisheim Zughaltestelle, you might be able to buy a generic 2 zone ticket.

Thanks, Lee. The Baden-Wuerttemberg-Ticket was what I meant. I figured the trip should be less, but I didn't know what else I could get ahead of time to cover it. I guess my best bet will be to buy the ticket you mentioned at the ticket machine in Oetisheim and hope I can work it okay!
