can you tell me if there is rail or boat service from amsterdam into a spot near scotland. we fly direct into amsterdam but am fearful that ash will keep us from our short flight from amsterdam in to edinburgh. do you know of a back up plan one could have in place so we can keep our tee times at st. andrews :)

There are ferries to Hull or Newcastle. You can find lots of information about travel between Amsterdam and Scotland/northern England here. This website has tons of useful transportation info in general.

Book some train passess and cancel if not needed. You may eat a penalty but at least you will have an rsvp.
